Marchese delle Saline

A New Generation of Winemakers: Heroic Agriculture, Organic Wine

The brand Marchese delle Saline originates in the territory of Trapani, when grandfather Giacomo, in 1860, moved to the Sicilian countryside and began work on the first plots of land in the district of Baiata. Since then, passion, knowledge and perseverance have been handed down from father to son, until today. During these years Giacomo Rallo, beside dedicating himself to the vineyard, used to work at the Salt pans of Marsala during the summer season. Being a natural hard worker, at that time, his fellow workers gave him the appellative of “Marquis”. This anecdote brought his nephews, years later, to honor his grandfather’s memory, naming the winery “Marchese delle Saline”, meaning "Marquis of the Salt Pans".

Marchese delle Saline, with its Organic Etna Bianco and Etna Rosso obtained from the relative Carricante and Nerello Mascalese vines, offers those who taste it the truest expression of the volcanic wines of the Etna. The particularities of these wines derive mainly from the volcanic soils and from the microclimate that fixes important scents in the grapes. The Nerello Mascalese gives origin to reds of absolute finesse, the Carricante is ideal to produce a white wine with a particular flavor that collects all the scents of the sea on the slopes of Etna.
